We all know that Bhutan is one of the popular places for tourism. Tourism in Bhutan started in the year 1974. The Government of Bhutan took effort to promote and raise the country’s unique tradition and culture.

Tourism to Bhutan was not familiar among foreigners. The Government wants to open the eyes of Bhutan to the outside world because this beautiful country was isolated before.

Tourism in Bhutan started in 1974 by 287 tourists, who visited the kingdom of Bhutan. Since after that incident number of tourist visit have increased. As an example, during the year 1992over 2,850 visitors have visited and in 1,999 the visitors count was 7,158. Tourism in Bhutan contributed over 2 million USD in annual revenue during the late 1980s.

These days Government of Bhutan pays more attention in environmental impact to promote tourism in Bhutan. Bhutan has the unique and virtually unspoiled culture and landscape.

Till the year 1991, the Bhutan Tourism Corporation (BTC) implemented the government tourism policy. The Government of Bhutan privatized the corporation in 1991 October by facilitating private sector activity and investment. With the result there are 75 licensed tourist companies are successfully running throughout the country today.
